Animoto is a great way to create a video that is eye catching, interesting and almost completely out of your control. For someone who is used to the more painstaking approach of carefully adding titles and transitions in iMovie, the Animoto approach is almost instantaneous. On the other hand, you lose control over the story and the final product. On Animoto, you arrange the clips, choose the music and let Animoto do the rest. They make the transitions and control the pace. You can create another video with the same clips and music and it will be completely different. The free 30 second takes only about 12 – 16 clips and I found it inadequate for storytelling, but great for sharing photos.
